So what do you get when you take a new script; community actors; professional actors; professional lighting and set design; a film school graduate doing sound and a stage manager that has arts, theatre and business background (that's me)?
Well...throw in a die hard dedicated person wanting to bring fresh experiences to local audiences-Frank Moher; plus a pain-in-the-butt, picky director-Brian March, and you get new script writers creation "The Engineers", by Brad Poulsen, brought to life in a dynamic performance with Western Edge Theatre Group.
"The Engineers" written by Brad Poulsen, premier opening night on Saturday March 28, 2009 was nothing less than entertainment magic brought to life with the help of a group of extremely talented cast and crew, including moving performances by Adrian Hough and Darren Keltie.
The energy flowed from the whole group. The performances of "Soul" (and the Popes Assistant) by Morganna Yoshida set the tone for all that followed, "The performances of "The Pope" by Adrian Hough and "Adn" by Darren Keltie were rivoting and fabulously supported. It is not often that a cast has a entire group of strong actors but this is one of those times. The "Chaotics; "Ben", played by Jonee Janolino;"Lewis" played by Tao Mori and "Annie" played by Nastasja Towe bring an energy to their parts that electrifies the audience. Mean while the "Triptych" played by Karrie Ennis; Colleen Hannah and Lorna Mclellan bring the sci fi element to the stage with uncanny perfection. "Doctor Hannum" played by Frank Moher keeps the story interesting and fast paced with his jolting performance; just as does Gordon McInnis as " Cardinal Levee" and Brian March as "Congress member".
Professionally detailed costumes designed and created by Elaine Wood; lighting and a stunningly creative set designed and constructed by Richard Broad; inconjunction with sound operator Kurtis Haus help to create the perfect setting and the illusions needed for the audience to be engrossed and swept away for a few hours having a wonderfully entertaining escape with live theatre. This is an absolute must see.
