Thanks for the note. I got involved in community theatre many years ago. That's a great place to start, though you should be ready to potentially take on a backstage role(helping out with lights, set, stage managing). It's a great way to get involved if you don't get a role through the audition process right away. It is COMMUNITY theatre after all.
Taking classes is good, but unfortunately there are NOT many good coaches out there, but PLENTY of people wanting to take your money.
WATCH PEOPLE...NOT actors. Actors can inspire, but PEOPLE are what you really learn from. Their behaviour is PURE, as your acting should approximate. It may sound esoteric, but any good actor would agree with me.
