WESTERN EDGE OFFERS FREE SNEAK PREVIEW OF 2009-10 SEASON
With four new productions on the slate, Nanaimo's Western Edge Theatre will offer a free sneak preview of its 2009-10 season on Friday, October 9th at 7:30 pm at the Nanaimo Entertainment Centre (46 Nicol St.).
"We'll be presenting excerpts from all four of the plays, with some good live music interspersed," says Frank Moher, Western Edge Theatre Artistic Producer. "It'll also be an opportunity to meet some of the actors and other artists involved in the season, and, for those who haven't yet visited the Nanaimo Entertainment Centre, to see what a terrific home we have."
Western Edge Theatre's 2009-10 season opens October 16th with the comedy "Matt and Ben," in which Nanaimo actors Emily Smythe and Carolyn Westberg play struggling actors Matt Damon and Ben Affleck. Other productions in the season include Edward Albee's "The Goat," the world premiere of "Fireweed" by Cedar's Brian March, and "Copper Thunderbird," a play about the great artist Norval Morrisseau, who spent his final days in Nanaimo.
Subscriptions start at just $32.00 for all four plays, a saving of 20% over the cost of individual tickets. Subscribers will also be entered into a draw for a free dinner for two at The Rendez Vous Restaurant.
Subscriptions will be on sale at the sneak preview, and are also available online at http://westernedge.org and by phone at 250-325-7777 (Nanaimo) or 1-888-320-3343.
Season sponsors are the British Columbia Arts Council, the City of Nanaimo, KopyKo, Music Maxx, The Nanaimo Daily News, The Harbour City Star, The Nanaimo News-Bulletin, The Wave 102.3 FM, and The Wolf 106.9 FM. The season patron is Paul Manhas.
